Workshop Agenda

Click here to download the Workshop Agenda for both days of the event. The start time will be Friday, February 2 at 1:00 PM, at the UC Berkeley Alumni House (details below in "Site Information" section). You are welcome to arrive at 12:30 for registration, and for coffee, pastries, and to set up your posters.

Posters

Each IRG and each research group should prepare a poster to display during the Friday evening poster session. Please make the posters 30" X 40" (either wide or tall, your preference). Click on the following link to download an MS Powerpoint template of the poster, TALL or WIDE (both are 650K, MS Powerpoint format). Display boards and easels for the posters will be provided at the site of the workshop. If you have a poster that you would already like to use, or if you have trouble downloading the Poster files, click here to download the SINAM logo, which you can add to your poster.

Reimbursement

Reimbursement for travel expenses for UC Berkeley students and faculty will be handled by Christian Spencer. He can be reached at 510-642-0390, or at the following Email. Reimbursements for all other attendees (UCLA, UCSD, UNCC, Stanford, and invited guests) will be handled by Jaymie Otayde-Mateo's office at UCLA. Her assistant, Mike Aureilio, can be reached at the following Email.

Please note that ALL original receipts are required for reimbursement. Reimburseable expenses include airfare, hotel, taxi (or other ground tranportation), meals, and supplies directly related to the conference (i.e. posters).

Hotel Information

Workshop participants requesting accommodations from SINAM will be staying at the Berkeley Faculty Club and the Berkeley Women's Faculty Club. Attendees requiring hotel accomodations will receive a confirmation email from the conference organizer before January 26. All sessions of the workshop will take place on UC Berkeley campus. Day 1 meetings will take place at the Alumni House (link above). Day 2 meetings will take place at the Berkeley Faculty Club. Specific locations for each session are provided on the Workshop Agenda.

Directions to campus can be found at the following link: http://www.berkeley.edu/visitors/traveling.html. More specific directions to the hotels can be found at the hotel links above, or by clicking here for the the BFC and here for directions to the WFC.

If you do choose to drive and you are staying in one of the campus hotels, upon arrival you should go directly to the hotel to obtain a parking permit. This will enable you to park in the hotel parking structure, located nearby. If you are planning to drive but not staying in accommodations on campus, please contact the conference organizer for a visitor parking permit. The visitor permits that can be provided by the conference organizer DO NOT enable you to park overnight on campus. These can only be obtained from the hotel where you will be staying.

If you are planning to drive to the workshop, please be advised that parking on campus is scarce and can be quite a hassle, especially for a visitor that is not familiar with the area. All of the sessions of the workshop are within short walking distance of the hotel, so driving will not be necessary at the site. You are encouraged to either take a shuttle or taxi to the campus. A one-way shuttle fare from OAK or SFO airport to campus should cost (roughly) $28.00. If you are traveling with a group a taxi is also a good option. A one-way taxi fare will cost around $75.00 - $90.00, depending on traffic and the time of day.

For shuttle service, BayPorter is recommended: http://www.bayporter.com

Dining Information

Dinner will be provided on 2/2, and lunch on 2/3 will also be provided, both at the Berkeley Faculty Club. Details will be available on the agenda. The workshop site is located within walking distance of many restaurants.
